Fellowship – Inkjet printing of functional devices for space applications

The Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), established in 2003, successfully created the large scale infrastructure in Genova and a network of 10 state of the art laboratories countrywide, recruiting an international staff of about 1100 people from more than 50 countries. IIT's research endeavour focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible application from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnologies.

The IIT Center for Space Human Robotics (CSHR@Polito) in Torino, directed by Prof. Fabrizio Candido Pirri, aims to reach a step further in the study of the future generation of space robotics for human exploration.

1 Fellow position is available at CSHR@Polito for highly motivated candidates, funded by an industrial research project (INJECTA) concerning the design of functional inks and the development of inkjet printed devices for space applications.

INJECTA research project fits the need of developing innovative strategies for functional electronics and new technological processes to directly print the conductive circuit directly on the selected substrate materials. Different applications will be evaluated and both inks and printing process parameters will be optimized in order to match all requirements defined in the first phase of the project. A prototypation tight schedule is foreseen, towards the realization of working devices that will fly on artificial satellites in the following years.

The candidates should possess a Master of Science degree and have previous experience regarding the inkjet printing of functional devices.

A good knowledge of the English language is also required in order to communicate with colleagues and relate to the technical support for the instruments.

The ideal candidate is a good team player in order to fit with the existing project team.
