shr-building

The mission of the Centre is the study of the future generation of space humanoid robotics. Many technologies are involved in the development of the basic functions required to space humanoids: locomotion & manipulation, perception, intelligence, communication with the humans, energy supply.

The activities of the Centre are focused on specific issues:

  • integrated systems for space human robotic application
  • innovative components for robotics with a particular focus on sensors and actuators
  • materials and technologies for MEMS, NEMS and portable energy sources.

The talk will take place on 10th of January 2011 at 9:00 a.m.  in the meeting room of the head office of the IIT@PoliTO Center, Corso Trento 21, 10129 Turin, Italy.

Just after the presentation, Imina will give a demonstration of the robots.

Imina technologies is a spin-off company of the EPFL, commercializing a new type of nano-manipulators compatible with any optical microscope or Scanning Electron Microscope + Focused Ion Beam.

These manipulators have the size of a dice and provide motions as small as 5 nm.
Several micro-tools can be mounted on the micro-robots, in order to perform a wide range of applications such as:

  • Electrical probing
  • Micro and nano manipulation
  • Optical characterization with an optical fiber

Several manipulation videos can be seen in the application section of Imina website: http://www.imina.ch/content/nanomanipulation
